a quiet week (or two)

 

It has been a mostly quiet time around here, punctuated by Ryan’s new schedule, sick kiddos, laying low, lots of reading, house projects, more sickness, more rest, and sitting outdoors to watch an early spring arrive rather suddenly. But mostly, not a lot of action, just quiet.

Consensus seems to be no. She probably had a lot of work to do.

The game was called “playing a grown-up eating granola while reading and writing and drinking le colombe coffee” yes, she has me pegged.

not sure if I have the (reportedly) mild winter to thank,

or if this is typical for over-wintered gardens,

but we have food!

some vegetables that I suspected would last (carrots, kohlrabi, brussels sprouts)

some weathered souls that are quite flavorful though beaten (celery, kale, mustard greens)

some new (I think) growth that I’m surprised to see so early (parsley, baby lettuce, cilantro!)

and a promise planted last autumn (garlic shoots)

the vegetables made a nice addition to soup (last night) and mujaddara (tonight)

sun+wind > temperature

yes I was standing in mud and snow piles to hang these sheets

yes there was ice (melting) around me

yes my hands were chilled

and yes, my laundry dried

and yes, my bed now  smells wonderful
